My Approach

Emotional health is a byproduct of healthy thinking, a healthy body, and a healthy worldview.  I believe therapy is an opportunity to bring alignment and integration to compartmentalized aspects of an individual’s life.  Using stories, myths, and metaphors, I help clients construct an overall narrative, a life map, that can lead to deeper understanding.  By using evidence-based treatments, I help clients establish concrete behavioral skills that can help them manifest their goals and dreams.

My holistic approach to therapeutic change blends many traditional modalities that are evidence based: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR) with the art of insight-oriented therapies, mindfulness, energy medicine, and archetypal stories.

My therapeutic process honors all aspects of an individual: mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and energetic states to synthesize health at all levels.

A Taste of My Foundational Philosophy

  • Therapy is about treating the whole person and should be health based, not disease based.

  • Fear and trauma shut down aspects of the brain; therapy can reactivate learning and growth.

  • Learning takes practice and practice takes repetition.

  • When difficult things happen, it is an opportunity to learn and grow.

  • Sometimes, it is necessary to slow down in life to learn where to spend our energy.

  • It is important to be deliberate and intentional in weaving our lives together.

  • Unraveling problematic loops and installing new behaviors, thoughts, and feelings can help manifest the life you want.

  • It is important to anchor our lives in the principles that make us feel alive.

  • I believe that fundamental practices of sleep, nutrition, and exercise are key to emotional wellness.

  • I believe that dis-ease comes from no longer being aligned with nature and our own biological wisdom.

Therapeutic environment

My job is to create a space for my clients to pause and take the time to really bring their full attention to themselves in order to heal.  I believe that the best therapeutic relationships are built on mutual respect and trust.  Engaging in a therapeutic relationship allows for a client to be truly seen and is a place without judgment so clients can find the courage to unravel and rebuild.

Creating a Partnership

I believe that the connection between client and therapist is one of the most important ingredients in making therapy successful. It is important to take the time to find the right practitioner. As such, I offer a free phone consultation  with all possible clients before beginning treatment. During that conversation, I will learn more about what you are looking for and you will get a sense of my style and approach.
